Tranquility and Peace of Mind / Health / Healing

Yoga benefits all three main aspects of life, the spirit, mind, and body. The basic practical aspects are simplicity and ease of yoga.  It fits into your everyday life as easily as any basic workout program. And unlike many programs, you don't need any special equipment other than a spot on the floor, your mind, and your body.

Yoga improves posture, increases the intake of oxygen, and enhances the functioning of the respiratory, digestive, endocrine, reproductive, and elimination systems. It is often reported that headaches, back pain, anxiety, menstrual cramps and stress have changed or are gone completely. Its effects on the emotions are equally beneficial: calming the mind, attuning us to the environment. Some people say they are able sleep through the night regularly for the first time in their lives. Yoga also works to unite the split between the mind and the body.  The regular practice of yoga helps us to accept whatever physical or mental conditions we might be suffering from by increasing our immediate sense of well being, concentration, and calm. Much healing can be done, but it takes practice and consistency. Only few minutes a day, and experience for yourself the positive and lasting effects of yoga.

While there has been some scientific documentation of the benefits of yoga, what is more important to consider about yoga are the responses of those who have practiced. Virtually without variation, people who practice yoga tell you that they feel better, more relaxed, more centered after their exercises or work out.  Whether these beneficial changes are related to an overall improvement in health and well-being or are due to a specific yoga pose, these healthy changes have long lasting effects.
